Lindsay’s walking/biking trail is moving forward.

The Village Board of Trustees voted during its Aug. 8 meeting to hire JEO Consulting Group to design and construct the trail.

Dale Bohac, of JEO, said the design plans will get started.

“We’ll design it over the winter, and it looks like we’ll bid it next spring — February or March — and construction can start next construction season,” he said.

On Jan. 28, the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission approved grant awards for the Land and Water Conservation Fund Stateside Assistance Program and the Recreational Trails Program at its meeting in Lincoln.

Commissioners approved outdoor trail projects for federal funding through the Recreational Trails Program, which granted the Village of Lindsay, $250,000 to build a 4,500-foot-long concrete trail for pedestrians and bicyclists within its village park.

Lindsay Area Development (LAD) and Nebraska Game & Parks needs to approve the agreement, but the board approved it contingent upon LAD’s and NGP’s approval.
